Injured girl rescued on stretcher from near Durdle Door

Lulworth Coastguard helped paramedics rescue a girl with a suspected dislocated hip from the steep Man O’War steps, close to Durdle Door in Dorset.

The steps that are cut into the side of the cliff, are the way to get to the Man O’War bay and it’s about a half a mile steep descent down from the car park to the beach.

“Suffered a suspected dislocated hip”

The incident happened on Saturday 15th August 2020, when weather conditions were wet and misty. Lulworth Coastguard reported:

“The team were paged at 5.34 pm after South Western Ambulance requested help with an extraction of a casualty on the Man o’ War steps.

“The team arrived to find the teenage girl in the care of the paramedics and quickly rigged their stretcher to assist with extraction. The girl had suffered a suspected dislocated hip and was carefully placed onto the stretcher.”

Once safely secured, the teenager was carefully brought up to the top of the steps, along with the help of one of the Lulworth Rangers. She was then transported across the rough grass area in a 4×4 vehicle provided by the Lulworth Estate security team, and then transferred to hospital.
