Rainbow message of hope illuminates Swanage

The sky over Swanage was lit up for a few minutes by the most astonishing and vivid double rainbow that had residents and visitors grappling to find a camera or their phone to capture the moment.

Over the last six days, we’ve been treated to an amazing performance of various rainbows in Swanage but this afternoon’s appearance in the sky was quite jaw dropping for anyone lucky enough to glance up at the right time.

A rainbow has taken on a special significance in 2020 as it has become a symbol of hope and a sign of support for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic. Many households in Swanage have been displaying pictures of rainbows in their windows.

“Quick, get the phone moments”

One person quick enough to capture the moment was Roger Mylius. He said:

“This was one of those, ‘Quick, get the phone moments’. My proper camera was hiding and the phone lens was not ‘wide’ enough for a still.”
