Swanage care home residents vaccinated as visiting restrictions eased

Gainsborough Care Home in Swanage says that 100 percent of its residents have now received their first Covid-19 vaccination and the home is currently Covid-free.

This good news comes as the government has said visiting restrictions in care homes will be relaxed from Monday 8th March 2021. From that date, a single visitor will be able to meet their relative or contact indoors and hold their hand.

“We know just how treasured visits are”

Agincare has welcomed the latest figures at Gainsborough Care Home, as well as the government’s announcement to ease visiting restrictions. Its chief operating officer, Tim Buckley said:

“We know just how treasured visits are by our residents, their loved ones and our care home teams, and we have already been facilitating safe visits wherever possible during the pandemic, even before the latest government announcement.

“The vaccination roll out of residents at Gainsborough Care Home is great news and very pleasing indeed. Agincare is working daily with local authorities and NHS teams to ensure any new care home residents are vaccinated as soon as they are able, as well as any remaining care workers across our homes nationwide.”

Looking forward to getting out and about again in their minibus

Swanage’s Gainsborough Care Home offers residential, respite and dementia care, with activities including art and craft, manicures, beauty treatments, hair dressing and music.

It also has an accessible garden, where residents can relax or plant their own bulbs and flowers as the weather improves.

With the prospect of days out in the future – restrictions allowing – residents and staff say that they’re looking forward to getting out and about again in their minibus, which was kindly donated by a resident and his family.
