Local man arrested after alleged ‘public order incident’ in Swanage

Following reports of a man acting suspiciously on Swanage Beach in Dorset and loitering around the seafront, police have arrested a man in his 30s.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward, following what Dorset Police describe as a reported “public order incident”.

Following a family on the beach

Dorset Police say they were contacted at 10.50 am on Sunday 14th April 2024 about a man following a family on Swanage Beach and then hanging around the seafront.

The man was described as wearing a bright orange high vis top, a blue baseball cap and blue jeans.

Officers attended and, following further enquiries, a local man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. He has been released on police bail while further enquiries are carried out.

Police constable Josh Hurwood, of Purbeck Police, said: 

“We are carrying out further enquiries into this incident to establish the full circumstances and I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity on the morning of Sunday 14th April 2024 and witnessed anything suspicious to please contact us.”
