Man indecently exposes himself to 13 year old girl in Swanage

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them, after a man indecently exposed himself to a teenage girl in Washpond Lane in Swanage.

At around 7.20 pm on Wednesday 4th August 2021 a 13 year old girl was walking along Washpond Lane in the direction of the High Street, while on the phone to a friend.

It’s understood the incident occurred near the bridge that goes over the railway line, between Herston Caravan and Camping site and The Swanage School.

Performing an indecent act

Dorset Police say that the girl became aware of a man shouting at her near to the railway bridge. The girl looked up to see the man exposing himself and performing an indecent act.

The man is described as white, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, approximately five feet 11 inches tall and of medium build with short shaved hair. He was wearing a striped polo top and trousers.

“Extremely distressing for the young victim”

Police constable Bryce Scott-Jones from Purbeck Police, said:

“An investigation is underway into this incident to identify the man and we will be carrying out a number of enquiries, including checking CCTV in the vicinity.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or recognises the man from the description given, to please come forward.

“This must have been extremely distressing for the young victim and we will continue to do all we can to locate the offender.”
