Purbeck Police appeal after damage to protected land in Swanage

Following reports of criminal damage to protected land in Swanage, the police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

On Thursday 17th December 2020, criminal damage was reported to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Washpond Lane.

The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 2 pm and 3 pm on the same day.

The gates were also left open

The damage not only includes tyre marks to a farmer’s field on the designated site, but the gates were also left open – potentially putting the animals at risk.

SSSIs are areas of land designated for protection and conservation by government authorities.

Anyone who has any information about the incident should contact Dorset Police on 101 with the crime reference number 55200189709.
