Swanage Co-op closed after overnight burglary

Thieves have targeted Swanage’s Co-op, stealing cash from the supermarket and causing damage to the till area.

The crime, which was discovered in the early hours of Friday 27th October 2023, meant that the supermarket was unable to open while police investigated the scene and the damage was assessed.

Store to reopen as soon as possible

It’s understood that maintenance work was happening at the supermarket during the week. It’s not known if this affected the recording of the CCTV. So far no CCTV images have been issued.

The Co-op says the Swanage store is closed while the necessary repairs are being made but plans to reopen to serve the community as soon as possible.

With the Co-op closed, nearby Budgens was busy and there were gaps in some of the shelves
