Police were called during a fundraising event in Swanage, when four teenagers attempted to snatch a charity box containing the money raised during the evening.
The incident took place on Saturday 9th September 2023 along Shore Road, with the call to the emergency services was made shortly after midnight.

Four children aged between 13 and 16
Following the arrival of the police, four children from Southampton aged between 13 and 16 were located and their parents were contacted and told to collect them.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:
“We received a report at 12.03 am on Sunday 10th September 2023 of a disturbance in Shore Road in Swanage.
“Officers attended and it was reported that an altercation had taken place involving four teenagers, who had attempted to steal a charity box.
“It was reported that the charity box had been recovered but two of the teenagers had been seen in possession of knives and they had left the scene.
“Searches of the area were conducted and four teenagers, aged between 13 and 16, were detained for searches. No knives were located.
“Arrangements were made for the teenagers, who were from the Southampton area, to be collected by their parents.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
Dorset Police say that at this time, they cannot confirm any link between this incident and the discovery of a machete knife found in Swanage over the weekend.
