Tractor and power tools stolen from Wareham beauty spot

A Wareham man has been arrested after machinery was reported stolen from Blue Pool near Wareham and then found the next day hidden on nearby heathland.

Dorset Police rural crime officers say that between around 9 pm on Thursday 22nd September and 1 am on Friday 23rd September 2022, three containers were forced open at the popular tourist attraction in Furzebrook Road.

Kubota tractor

A Kubota RTV-X1140 utility vehicle and a Kubota tractor had been stolen, as well as a number of chainsaws and power cutters.

The stolen items were found the following day, concealed on heathland a short distance from the location.

Following enquiries by officers, a 28 year old Wareham man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft. He has been released under investigation.

“Suspicious vehicle movements”

Police constable Kate Schofield, of the rural crime team, said:

“We recognise the impact of reported offences of this nature on businesses in our rural areas and we are continuing to carry out a thorough investigation into this matter.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious vehicle movements or other activity in the area on the night of the incident and I would also urge anyone who was driving in the vicinity to please check dashcam footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
