Man questioned by police over Swanage dog bite incident

Dorset Police say a man in his 60s from Cumbria is assisting officers with their enquiries in connection with an incident where a boy was reportedly bitten by a dog.

At around 5.10 pm on Tuesday 2nd May 2023, police received calls saying that a seven year old child had sustained injuries from a dog bite in the garden of The Crows Nest Inn in Ulwell Road,

The air ambulance landing in Day’s Park in Swanage in response to the incident

Serious injuries to his head

At the time, emergency services rushed to the scene including the air ambulance, paramedics and the police.

The boy from Swanage, had serious injuries to his head, which required treatment at Poole Hospital in Dorset.

After the incident, Dorset Police released a photo of a couple with a dog and appealed for them to contact them

Issuing an update on Monday 17th July 2023, Dorset Police said:

“Following an image appeal in relation to the incident and detailed enquiries by officers, a man aged in his 60s from Cumbria has attended for a voluntary police interview and is assisting officers with their enquiries. No arrests have been made.”
